Rhenish Stoneware


Rhenish Stoneware Rhenish gray stoneware is a thick-bodied salt-glazed ware usually attributed to the Westerwald district of the Rhineland . It is often decorated with incised, stamped and sprigged designs and painted with cobalt blue and/or manganese purple. Two hundred and one sherds were recovered from Central Trust representing mostly chamber pots, and mugs and tankards. These wares were popular during the period circa 1675-1775.
