Your first day...

Enjoy Acadian hospitality by beginning your day at the Village historique. in the morning, followed by a picturesque picnic on site, or lunch at the Café, where you can savour our traditional Acadian cuisine. Spend the afternoon, discovering the charming and unique features of our  community... Your choices  abound !

Travel to the fascinating wind park, at Lower West Pubnico,with its 17 impressive windmills, towering 389 feet on the shores of breathtaking Lobster Bay;  take a walk along the shore , observe the boats entering or leaving the harbor, and have the fresh salt air exhilarate your senses.

Visit Dennis Point Wharf, Lower West Pubnico, abuzz most days with fishing activities . Chat with our friendly fishermen, and hear their fishing tales and local folklore. Then drop by Abbotts Harbour and Rock Road wharves for a quieter but equally picturesque experience. Drop your line, see what you catch !

Passionate about golf? The West Pubnico Golf and Country Club, with its lush fairways and greens, boasts the longest season in Nova Scotia – March to end of January.

If Ornithology is your pastime, the region offers the largest colony of Roseate terns. Located on a small island, on the western shore of Pubnico, the colony is protected. Although access to the island is prohibited, sightings are possible along the shoreline at Pond Road. This colony also includes some Common terns and Arctic terns.

The Musée des acadiens des Pubnicos and Research Centre, West Pubnico , invites you to visit. They will share the Acadians' history c.1650, through their stories, artifacts and genealogical  research.

Your second day...

Your Acadian adventure continues! Follow directions on Highway 103 west to Tusket, to  visit the spectacular Ste.-Anne Churcha gem of the municipal heritage with its gothic architecture, featuring two towers and the original paintings on the ceiling. A reproduction of the Rocco Point Chapel, where the Acadians settled upon their return from exile, can be found at 0.8 km from the church.

Visit the oldest Courthouse in Canada, located in the community of Tusket, where you can also conduct some genealogical research.

In Wedgeport , tour the Wedgeport Sport Tuna Fishing Museum, and delight in the ecological trail. The flora and fauna of the Tusket River estuary is very diverse and fascinating.
