Picnics at Balmoral Grist Mill
Sandwiches, baked goods and beverages can be purchased from the Balmoral kitchen, Wed-Sat, 11 am-3 pm. Enjoy a picnic meal chosen from our varied selection of sandwiches offered on hearty breads, bagels and wraps. Top it all off with one of our delicious homemade cookies.

The Romantic Mill

What could be more romantic than a candle lit dinner for two on a pleasant summer’s eve at the old grist mill? Cool jazz playing softly against the background of the waterfall, a great meal and glass of wine with a friend. All set against the backdrop of a 134 year old mill.
Menu: Traditional Greek Feast
In honour of the Olympic Games being celebrated in Vancouver!
As much as possible the ingredients for this menu are local, seasonal and organic……such as spinach, tomatoes and cucumbers from Green Dragon Organic Farm, feta and yogurt from Earltown Country Cheese, Northumberland lamb and free range pork, local honey.
Spanakopita: Spinach and feta filled phyllo pastries.
Tzatziki: The popular cucumber, yogurt and garlic dip.
Grilled Greek Pitas.
Lamb and Pork Souvlaki: Skewered meat kabobs marinated the Greek way.
Authentic Greek Village Salad.
Baklava : Layers of phyllo with a walnut mixture drenched in sweet honey syrup.
Half glass wine pairings from Jost included.

The Artistic Mill: An evening of Music and Literature at Balmoral Grist Mill
7:30-10 pm
Come to the Old Grist Mill for readings by Linda Little from her award winning novel, Scotch River, and selections from George Elliot’s classic, The Mill on The Floss. After the readings, enjoy live Celtic music.
Weekly Demonstrations at Balmoral Grist Mill
Beginning Mid - August
Experience firsthand these once-common chores!
Tues: kiln-drying oats
Wed: shelling oats
Thurs: grinding oatmeal
Fri/Sat: Mill restoration work or whole wheat grinding
Get a behind the scenes look at millwright skills they way they were practiced over a century ago!
