Welcome to an Early,Water-Powered Mill Discover this wonderful three-storey grist mill tucked away in wooded gorge on Matheson's Brook near Tatamagouche. Wheat, oats, and buckwheat are ground and sifted just as they have been since Alexander McKay opened the mill in 1874. Bring a picnic and linger in this shady and peaceful place. Hear the mill stream splashing as
water tumbles over the dam, powering the overshot waterwheel. Ramble along the 1-km
Christene MacDonald Walking Trail.
