Archaeological Tools
| In this photo you can see two of the the tools used by archaeologists during the 1998 excavations
at Birchtown. The total station (left) is an electronic survey instrument that quickly and
accurately provides distance and elevation measurements to produce a map of the site. To the
right of the total station is the aluminum leg of the large bipod that elevates a camera to a
suitable height from which a photographic record of the site is made. |
