Remembering Black Loyalists, Black Communities was a two-year research project, funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage: Multiculturalism Program, and by the Nova Scotia Museum. The recovered data and archaeological materials are at the History Section of the Nova Scotia Museum, Halifax. Research results have been given to the Black Loyalist Heritage Society, the Brownspriggs Historical Society, and the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia. Those involved in the project had a huge task. For the descendants of Black slaves, the search for facts is as unrelenting as the search for freedom.

A Project Advisory Group provided insight, wisdom, passion, debate, and support. Museum and project staff valued their perspectives and collaboration throughout the project.

Here are members of the Advisory Group and the Nova Scotia Museum History Section project team at the opening of the exhibition in January, 2000.
