Pier 4, Charlestown Navy Yard

Good Evening,

Well the heat of the day is fading and after a beautiful sunset over the Charles River the night watch has been established and the ships life goes on. Where we are docked is known as Constitution Loop and hundreds of boats pass by every hour. I counted 30 boats tonight just to see how many the loop held. the boast themselves range from huge three decked excursion ships to private rubber dingys and everything in between. It is mesmerizing to watch. Capping it all off are the innumerable patrol boats with their blue flashing lights. Coast guard, auxiliary coast guard, police, fire, environmental police all have their boats in the water, all with loud hailers keeping their people in order. It's quite fascinating to watch, for a while.

The crew have been busy either entertaining our guests or exploring the city. We have had over 8000 people visit the ship for the first two days and are expecting greater numbers over the weekend. The people here are great and genuinely interested in the ship and the crew. I have great fun in the mornings talking to kids. I usually end up telling them that yes I am a pirate and i was kidding about all that other stuff about fishing and what not. I then tell them to look up Oak Island as that's where I buried my treasure. A couple of good "AARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH's thrown in for good measure and they leave happy and with a bit of information about our fair province. I also tell them that when they visit the next ship to tell them that Bluenose II is their favorite!

That's all for tonight,

Best regards,

Phil Watson
