The
FundyGeologicalMuseum connects your classroom curriculum with live, interactive learning and fun! Let
your students experience our unforgettable Day Programs and a museum sleepover:
Fabulous Fossils
Find out about local dinosaur discoveries and the unique,
rich geological history of the area. This program includes a beach tour with a
focus on the geology of cliffs. Look at actual marks left by the shifting earth
and discover ripple and mud cracks. See the ocean bottom standing upright!
Students may discover marine fossils or footprints, too. Your students will
also visit our fossil lab, meet the Lab Manager, hear a 10- to 15-minute
presentation on the science of fossils, and make a related craft.
Marvelous Minerals
Get inside this treasure chest of learning with a day
program that includes a guided mineral tour of the museum; a beach tour and
mineral search on PartridgeIsland, and a visit to
our mineral-based labs where students learn to identify and classify minerals.
Depending on the age of the students, the hands-on mineral stations allow
students to identify minerals by magnetism, colour, streak, density, texture,
hardness and crystal shape. Students will create a necklace using Bay of Fundy agate!
A Night at The Museum!
Join us for a night with the dinosaurs! Set up your bedroll
in the museum gallery, roast marshmallows around the campfire or go for a hike
with your guide. Then, settle in for a night at the Museum! After breakfast,
look for minerals at a local beach, learn about rocks and minerals of the Bay
of Fundy and see Canada’s oldest dinosaur bones! At noon, enjoy a lunch of
T-Rex toes.
