Walk through the doors of the Fundy Geological Museum and enter an ancient world. Our amazing exhibits offer you the chance to see some of the oldest dinosaur bones in Canada.

Learn about the world-famous dinosaur discovery that was made in Parrsboro in 1984 (announced in 1986)—the largest of its kind ever made in North America!

Get a close-up look at the creatures who reigned supreme in this region millions of years before we arrived! Check out the world’s first reptiles, the planet’s earliest dinosaurs, giant dragonflies and bug-like creatures as big as baseball bats!

Fossil fanatics and gem lovers will fancy our exhibits! At Fundy Geological Museum, you can explore Nova Scotia’s mineral treasures and age-old fossils, discovered in nearby sea cliffs right along the Fundy Shore.

Walk where the dinosaurs walked! Discover the area’s rich geological past on a guided tour with our museum experts!

If you are interested in any programs at the Fundy Geological Museum, simply contact the education officer with the approximate number of people, the activities you require, and the date of your visit. If that date is (especially schools) available, you will be contacted with a program and costs and your reservation will be confirmed. If that date is not available, then other dates will be discussed.

Once an agreement has been reached regarding dates & program, an itinerary will be sent to you. For overnight trips, you will be asked for a 25% deposit to reserve your dates. This deposit is due before April 15th.

Group sizeWe will accept up to two classes from the one school. Teachers wishing to bring larger groups must contact the Education Department.

Time and Tides

Arrival time for groups is 10:00 a.m. for day trips and 1:00 p.m. for overnight; departure time will vary according to the program purchased. We ask that you arrive on time. Late arrival will result in the cancellation of some program activities. The Fundy Geological Museum is not responsible for late arrivals, missed activities due to tardiness and refunds will not be returned for these reasons.

Each program is arranged according to the tides. It is policy that a two to three hour window around the high and low tides be used for planning beach tours depending on the field trip destination.

Cancellations

Cancellations for confirmed bookings must be made at least 30 days prior to the visit date to receive a full refund of the deposit. Up to two weeks prior to the visit, 15% of the deposit will be refunded. There are no refunds after this point.

Chaperones

School or recreation groups should be accompanied by at least

  • one chaperone per 5 - 7 students grade Primary - 5
  • one chaperone for 6-8 students grades 6 - 9, or, for overnight trips, grades 6 - 12
  • one chaperone for 15 students senior high.

Adults may participate in all activities.
No smoking during school programs or field trips.
