Saturday, June 13 – Open House, Shand House Museum
Free admission all day. Light refreshments served. Learn about 1890s Nova Scotia

Sunday, June 14 – Open House, Haliburton House Museum
Free admission all day. Light refreshments served. Learn about Thomas Chandler Haliburton and his famous creation, Sam Slick

Saturday, June 27 – Morning Walk and Breakfast
Time: 8:30 a.m.
Cost: $6.00 per person.
Meet us at Haliburton House Museum; join us for a walk and hear about our historic corner of Windsor. Afterward, a light breakfast will be served. Please pre-register for this event.

July 7-August 11– “Play in the Past” Children’s Day Camps
Time: Tuesdays or Thursdays, 10am-12noon.
Cost: $5.00 per child.
Pre-registration is required.
Ages 6-12. Kids will enjoy traditional fun and games from the 19th century. Some examples include kite making, watercolour painting, and old-fashioned toys. A snack will be served. Contact Haliburton House Museum for full schedule and to register. Schedule will be posted on our website when finalized.


Sunday, July 5 – Strawberry Social Tea Time
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Shand House Museum.
Cost $6.00 per person.
Enjoy local strawberries in season the way nature intended—in shortcake! Other light refreshments will be served, and entertainment provided. Please call the Shand House to register, as space is limited.

Saturday, July 18 – Doggie Meet and Greet
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Haliburton House Grounds.
Bring your dogs and their leashes. Hot dogs and refreshments for sale. Doggie treats for your favourite pet. No charge for this outdoor event, regular admission to tour the museum. Sorry, no dogs in the museum.

Sunday, July 19 – Mother/Daughter Tea
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Shand House Museum.
Cost: $12.00 per family.
Tea and local summer-time treats will be served. Take part in traditional tea-time activities. Mothers and daughters are encouraged to dress in their finest tea-time attire. Door prizes. Please call the Shand House to register, as space is limited

Sunday, August 2 – Sam Slick Picnic
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Free admission to the museum during this time. Celebrate the Windsor-West Hants SummerFest (formerly Sam Slick Days) with a picnic on our beautiful property. Play traditional games on the front lawn. Refreshments for sale. Picnic tables available.

Sunday, August 16 – Blueberry Tea
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Shand House Museum.
Cost: $6.00 per person.
Help us celebrate blueberry harvest season in Nova Scotia. Tea and blueberry treats will be served. Door prizes. Please call the Shand House to register, as space is limited.

Sunday, August 30 – My Favourite Cup: A Victorian Tea
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Shand House Museum.
Cost: $6.00 per person.
Tea and three courses of treats will be served. Guests are encouraged to dress in their finest tea-time attire and to bring their favourite tea cup. Hear traditional songs in the Shand parlour. Door prizes. Please call the Shand House to register, as space is limited.

Sun. Sept. 13 – “Windblown”
Haliburton House Museum
Time: 2 p.m.
Back by popular demand! Hear classical and modern music from this talented woodwind ensemble, just like Haliburton himself would have done.
Free with regular admission

Friday, September 25 – Ghosts of Haliburton House
Time: 7 p.m.
Cost: $10.00 per person.
Enjoy a candle-lit tour of the Haliburton House Museum. Go behind the ropes into the antique-filled rooms of this 19th century home. Enjoy a reading from Haliburton’s famed Sam Slick stories. A light meal will be served. Please call the Haliburton House Museum to register.

Sunday, October 11 – 7th Annual Golden Gourd Scavenger Hunt
Haliburton House Museum.

Time: registration at 9:30, gourd hunt begins promptly at 10:30 a.m., rain or shine.
Cost: $3.00 per child. Ages 5-13. Search our grounds for the Golden Gourd! Ornamental gourds for everyone to take home, prizes awarded in 3 age categories.

Cost: $5.00 per child per day.
Ages 6 and up.

Nature scrapbooks, pressing flowers, plant pictures

Living creatures and habitats, animal tracks, insect hunting

Tuesday, August 4 – Paper Crafts
Paper dolls, easy origami, “stained glass” decorations, and more

Thursday, August 6 – Musical Instruments
Make your own instrument, and then your own music

Tuesday, August 11 – I Spy
Search for clues as you take a journey through the past.
