Festival
Sat, Aug 8, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
The Launch Day Committee,
Lawrence House Museum and
the community of Maitland,
invite you to celebrate its
shipbuilding heritage at the
23rd Annual Maitland Launch
Day Festival.
Commemorate the launch of
the W.D. Lawrence, the largest
wooden-hulled, full-rigged
vessel ever built in Canada.
Villagers will be dressed in their
Victorian best, and displays and
demonstrations of traditional
skills and crafts will take
place on the Lawrence House
grounds. The non-motorized
costumed processional will
make its way through town
to the original home of the
shipbuilder himself.
See a bayside re-enactment of
the launch using a 17-foot scale
model of the great ship and
the banishment of the Whiskey
Peddlers.
