The Fundamentals of Boatbuilding
During the week of July 25, 2005, Wyatt Lawrence, who has apprenticed with Harold Bryan in New Brunswick and has worked
for the Nova Scotia Sea School,
led a workshop in which participants Roman Dusanowskyj, Markus Feiel, Andrew Harding, Ian McKay and Neville Ralph
constructed a replica of a 1920s Westport Pond Boat. This terrific example of Nova Scotian boatbuilding skill measures 12
feet and was launched at the Museum wharves on the morning of July 30 during the Halifax Waterfront's Natal Day Celebrations.
Neville Ralph is now the proud owner of this beautiful little craft.
Below are some photos taken during the workshop and the launch ceremony.
