Cabot Strait

This dramatic photograph shows the severed bow of the tanker Kurdistan which broke in half in a storm off Cape Breton. Unlike the Arrow, the oil spill was limited. The bow was later towed past Sable Island and deliberately sunk by naval gunfire.
