What is a shipwreck? ... abandoned derelicts

Ships are often abandoned in old age - to sink at the dock or rot away in a quiet cove. Their remains become derelict wrecks, evocative in decay and of value to researchers.

Rayo - 1951
John Bracewell - 1937
Hamburg - 1925

The derelict remains are considered a shipwreck. They often become local landmarks and if they survive long enough, may provide insights to underwater archaeologists.
