Story
|
After striking the northwest bar, Captain Pearson cut his engines and dropped anchor. Eight hours later SKIDBY drifted and then grounded again. The 26 crew were able to walk to shore and on March 3rd LADY LAURIER took them to Halifax. A formal investigation held on April 18/19 found the captain at fault for having initially cut the engines instead of attempting to free the vessel. SKIDBY's boilers were visible for many years after her hull disappeared.
