The Elastic Millennium Choir started life almost 20 years ago as a group that concentrated on the music of the "shape note tradition." Over this time, the choir has done much research and added Maritime-composed pieces to a repertoire that included songs from the American Sacred Harp movement which was the music of ordinary folk. Join us for a memorable afternoon as choir members perform a concert of sea songs such as William Billings’ (1746-1800) The Euroclydon: An Anthem (“Psalme 107 for Mariners”) and other religious' songs from the era that were sung in honour of those who died on the Titanic. The group has recorded two CDs of their music in addition to a commissioned body of work for Fortress Louisbourg and a recording featuring Temperance music. Recently they produced a recording in support of the Covenantor Church in Grand Pre. Join in to hear the choir in the museum’s Small Craft Gallery from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm ( included with admission).
