The Museum of Natural History is currently undergoing repairs to make the space safer, healthier, and more pleasing for visitors and staff. During the closure, Museum of Natural History staff are busy reviewing and renewing public and school programs and planning many great exhibits for 2010 and beyond. The Museum remains closed. Please check back for construction updates and the announcement of our official reopening.

POISON PLANT PATCH »

Poison Ivy, Monkshood, Buttercup and Destroying Angel are all examples of toxic plants or mushrooms found in this province.

Featuring more 50 species of plants, mushrooms and algae, this introduction will help you identify poisonous plants, recognize medical symptoms of poisoning and explore associated folklore.


SABLE ISLAND »

Located 300 km south-east of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Sable Island is renowned for its wild horses and shipwrecks. It is also an island with a fascinating geological and natural history that reflects the challenge of surviving wind, waves and isolation.


YOUNG NATURALISTS CLUB »

The Young Naturalists Club is a fun, free nature club for kids 8 to 12 years old. Meetings take place at the Museum the 3rd Saturday morning of each month.
