
The Museum of Natural History also displays ethnological materials from the historical collection of the Nova Scotia Museum. This gallery presents wonderful examples of First Nations Mi’kmaw splint basketry, birchbark containers, crooked knives and more. Visitors enjoy seeing reproductions of early 16th C Mi’kmaw clothing that features a robe worn by an young bride. For centuries, Mi’kmaw women have used porcupine quills to decorate items and to adorn their clothing.
