Design Team

MikeMike Graham was the project coordinator and production manager, in charge of deadlines, reports, and other fun stuff. He's been coding since Mosaic, and he's got a killer eye for good design, especially typefaces. Mike's user-oriented design ethic also contributed greatly to the streamlining of the interface, as well as serving to keep Sean's ridiculous design ideas in check [with the exception of this page]. His past projects include Volume I of The Natural History of Nova Scotia and Fossils of Nova Scotia.

KristaKrista Johanson was, in the most technical sense of the word, the junior developer on this project, but the title belies her advanced ability with graphic design and content management. At 16 she's already been a finalist in the 1997 ThinkQuest International Competition, earning her a trip to Washington, D.C. Her highly critical eye for design was a huge asset to the project, as was her ability to just sit there and code for hours straight. Past projects include Unica Island: Journey into Communication and a site for a refrigeration company that she won't give me the URL for.

SeanSean "Mike's gonna hate it anyway" MacGillivray is currently the only Museum employee who skateboards to work, which has become something of a conversation piece, apparently. A two-year veteran of web design, his flaky flights of design fancy include the title graphic above, which was scanned in seven pieces from a large map and recombined and tweaked to death in Photoshop, "just because". He likes to call himself a web developer/graphic designer, despite the fact that he has no formal training in either field. His specialties include interface design and graphic design, and past projects include Occupational Health & Safety, Blindside, and The Electric Plumtree.
