Zenaida asiatica (Linnaeus)

Status Five records. The first was closely observed by Alban Richard on Sable Island on 10 August 1979. On 27 August of that year another was photographed on Seal Island (I. and J. McLaren). Subsequent birds have all been seen at bird feeders. One stayed from mid-September to 10 October 1982 near Sambro, Halifax County (G. Patrick). Two more were photographed: at Stellarton, Pictou County, 18-23 May 1982 (L.F. McKay), and at North Sydney,26-29 May 1984 (L. Maclean).

Remarks This southwestern species has wandered to the northeast more regularly in recent years.
