Gray Kingbird

Gray Kingbird

Tyrannus dominicensis (Gmelin)

Status Two sight records. Evelyn Richardson (1965) gives a precise description of the appearance and behaviour of a Gray Kingbird she saw many years earlier on Bon Portage Island, but without recalling the date. An individual on Sable Island on 20-23 October 1973 was closely observed and accurately described by Alban Richard.

Remarks This large, pale, heavy-billed kingbird breeds from South Carolina south to northern South America but occasionally wanders up the Atlantic coast.
