Carolina Wren

Carolina Wren

Thryothorus ludovicianus (Latham)

Status Three sight records. Four individuals have been reported, all on Seal Island: one on 6 October 1974 by John and Shirley Cohrs, two on 15 October 1975 by Charles R.K. Allen and one on 16 May 1984 by Eric Cooke and Sylvia Fullerton.

Remarks This large, rusty and buff wren with a strong white eyestripe is resident in the eastern United States, and wanders routinely as far north as Maine and southern Quebec. Our records indicate that it has a tendency to move during the normal migration season of other birds.
