Townsend's SolitaireMyadestes townsendi (Audubon)Status Three records. One was seen at Wolfville by Sherman Bleakney on 28 December 1975. The second appeared in Tony Lock's garden in Halifax on 2 January 1979, where it stayed until at least 28 February, allowing a large number of birders to view and photograph it. The third solitaire, on Seal Island on 6 November 1980, was recorded by Bruce Mactavish. Remarks This slender, gray, western thrush breeds throughout the western mountains and is an occasional vagrant to the east coast. |
