Swainson's WarblerLimnothlypis swainsonii (Audubon)Status One record. A weakened bird was found on Seal Island on 9 October 1972 (J. Boulva, I.A. McLaren) and collected for a first Canadian record. Remarks This is the most southerly of the eastern North American warblers. It does not nest north of southern Illinois, southern Ohio and Delaware and is scarce and shy within its normal range. Its detection here among our more normal vagrants is exceptional. |
