See the two foot prints at the bottom of the rock? What do you think made the tracks? The first thing a palaeontologist does is to figure out how many "digits" or "fingers" are preserved. Then we look for impressions of claws. If there are more than two tracks, we try to figure out how the front "paw" and back "paw" overlap each other. These are just a few of the questions we ask ourselves when we are trying to figure out what made a track.
