Nova Scotia Power's
Osprey Relocation Program

Osprey love to nest on high structures near good fishing grounds. Power poles are favourite nesting sites. About 200 Osprey nests are located on NSP structures. In most cases, the nests do not interfere with the delivery of electricity, nor are the birds at risk. But in some cases, the birds are in danger of electrocution or debris from the nest can cause an outage. In those cases, NSP in conjunction with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources provide alternative nesting platforms. For more information on nest relocation watch this video.
