Experience
the History of Work at Work!
What's the size of seven hockey rinks and houses more than 37,000
artifacts? The Museum of Industry in Stellarton, Nova Scotia is
Atlantic Canada's largest museum! Visit us to experience the fascinating
story of Nova Scotia's industrial workers, including unique machines,
technology, and stories of sweat, grit, tears, tragedies and triumphs.
Have hands-on fun, find innovative ideas and electrifying exhibits.
Punch your time card and work your way from the Industrial Revolution
to the Age of Computers, exploring mines, factories, railroads,
home-based industries and more.
Feel the power of
water, print a souvenir bookmark, play the ever-popular assembly
line game or experience the roar of the "Oxford" sawmill.
Giggle at 1930s hair-dressing contraptions, try your hand at quilting,
or hook a rag mat with costumed interpreters. Visit Samson
and Albion, two of Canada's oldest steam locomotives. See
an historic model railway layout, or watch a belt-driven machine
shop in action. Meet a retired coal miner and journey into Pictou
County's coal mining history, from the arrival of the General Mining
Association in 1827 to the Westray disaster of 1992. Discover how
"Nova Scotia" pressed glass became collectable. Picture
yourself in the past using interactive multimedia, a new "tool"
of industry.
