Wooly Weekend
May 16,17, & 18
Spring is here and the sheep at Ross Farm Museum have had their lambs and are ready for their annual shearing. There will be demonstrations in sheep shearing, washing & spinning wool. Learn about the importance of sheep to early settler’s and about the work involved to produce yarn and how woolen yarn was used to make material for the clothing necessary for the cold winter days.

Pumpkin Planting
June 6 & 7
What better way to celebrate the start of the summer than to join the annual pumpkin planting days at Ross Farm Museum? Bring the children and let them plant a pumpkin seed, then they can return in the fall and harvest their pumpkin

Father’s Day
Sun June 21
On Sunday join staff for tea & cake in Rose Bank Cottage. Free admission for Father’s.

Canada Day
July 1st
Birthday cake and refreshments will be served in Rosebank Cottage

8th Annual Teddy Bear Picnic
July 5th
If you go down to the farm today you’re sure of a great surprise. Yes, it’s that time of year again, it’s teddy bear picnic time. Pack a picnic lunch, grab your favorite Teddy Bear and come to Ross Farm Museum for this fun and exciting day. There is so much to do and see. Not only is the farm running as usual but we will be having games and activities suitable for everyone to enjoy. After lunch, a fun contest will be held for your special Teddy if you wish to enter. The judging takes place at 2:00 pm. It should be a bear of a time for all.

New Ross Birthday
Aug 7th
Today is the 193rd birthday of the settlement of New Ross .Birthday cake and refreshments will be served in Rosebank Cottage.

Antique Gasoline Engine Club
August 8th & 9th
Members of the Gasoline engine club will be on hand with displays and demonstrations of older style farm equipment . There will be a grain threshing & hay press demonstrations. Over 10 working displays!

6th Annual Maritime Hand Mowing Championships
Aug 22nd

Amateur Woodsman Competition

This will be a day when traditional forestry craftsmanship and techniques are displayed by demonstrating primary wood working and handling skills of our forefathers in a competition format. There will be events in crosscuts saw(Jack & Jill), single buck saw, water boil, and other woodsman related activities. Different age class for different events. Family Participation Days
Sept 5,6, & 7
Have you ever wanted to milk a cow or help in blacksmithing? Today is your chance, bring the whole family down and try your hand at the skills that your fore fathers took for granted as just part of their everyday lives. It’s your chance to step back in time and do some everyday hands on work. Different activities will be scheduled each day such as wood punching, quill pen writing, taffy pulling, candle dipping , cow milking, and blacksmithing. Join in the fun and you will receive a Participant Certificate. Today is definitely a day not to be missed it’s your chance to experience the 1800's like never before.

Military Encampment
Sept 19th & 20th
Maritime Civil War Living History Association will take part in a military encampment during the weekend at the museum.

Pumpkin Harvest
Sept 20
The seeds have been planted and they’ve been handled with care. Now our little seeds have grown on their very own. It’s that time to come and harvest the pumpkin you planted in the spring. They are all ready to go so do not forget to come and pick up your pumpkin. There will be a judging of pumpkins at 2:00 . Prizes will be award.

Witherod Basket Making Demonstration

Members of the Nova Scotia Basketry guild will be on hand in the Farm workshop demonstrating basket making from 10:00-4:00

Thanksgiving Day Celebration
Mon., Oct 12
Can’t think of anything special to do on Thanksgiving day? Bring the family out for some good old fashioned fun. There will be so much to do and see. It is your chance to step back in time and experience Thanksgiving settlers style. Enjoy demonstrations of open-hearth cooking, coopering and sauerkraut making. Take part in a fun auction for everyone in the afternoon at 2:00pm

Christmas in the Country
Sat. 5th & Sun. 6th
As part of the New Ross Christmas Festival staff at Ross Farm Museum have put together a great program for your enjoyment. Step back in time to experience Christmas in the Country. At Rose Bank Cottage sample traditional dishes from the period such as plum pudding, sugar cookies & warm spiced cider while you enjoy some of your favorite Christmas carols . There will be craft activities in the school house, visitor center and farm workshop. Weather permitting there will be horse drawn rides.
