An interpreter at Barrington Woolen Mill Museum stands near a pressing machine. Fabric would be draped and folded across the length of the press, then layers of warm metal blocks would shape and stretch the fabric, as well as smooth out wrinkles. Pressure was applied by screwing down the top portion of the press.
