Brides' Gowns Revisited is a display of bridal gowns running from May 29th through June 30th at Prescott House Museum, Starrs Point. Included in the display are these two wedding gowns. The gown on the left was first worn in 1894 and again by a granddaughter in 1936. The gown to the right was worn in 1896. During the late 1800s, Ladies Home Journal stated that cream was the most flattering colour for a wedding gown. A funky fact is that one of these gowns is lined with heavy brown wrapping paper! The bride likely "rustled" down the aisle! |
