Purple plaid taffeta was a practical material for this wedding dress in 1893. The leg of mutton sleeve dress was made from the brides grandmother's dress, c. 1850. During this time period, many brides chose coloured or patterned gowns for their weddings in order to get more wear from the gown, since it could be worn on several occasions.
