Principals...Start your Engines!!!
for the Funky Museum Roadshow
June 4-12

Red Cloud, the Halifax-built Volvo leading the Funky Museum RoadShow, had a mission in 1980 - to drive around the world in the shortest amount of time. Later that year, Red Cloud broke the record for fastest circumnavigation of the world by car and ended up on the front cover of the Guinness Book of Records with driver Garry Sowerby.

Now, 19 years later, Red Cloud and Garry Sowerby have another mission...
To lead the Funky Museum Roadshow
around Nova Scotia from June 4 - 12

To kick off Museum Day Weekend
(June 12-13) and the museum summer season

To find The 25 Funkiest Things In Nova Scotia Museums

Your two part mission, should you choose to accept it, will help Garry and Red Cloud find 25 funky things in Nova Scotia!

Part 1 Ready, set, go...to a museum near you!
  • Head to your local museum with your teacher and classmates, a friend or a family member.
  • Take part in the amusing, exciting and educational events and learn something new about your community's heritage!
  • Part 2 Find a Funky Thing
  • Explore your museum for stuff you think is funky, a fun fact or just plain neat.
  • When Garry comes to town, tell him what you think is funky and why - you could win a book for your school library from the Nova Scotia Museum Publications Catalogue if your entry is chosen as one of the 25 funkiest things in Nova Scotia!
  • Bookmark this site for updates and information on roadshow activities.

  • What's a funky thing?

    Your "funky thing" can be...
anything related to Nova Scotia's heritage. A story, an historical object, an historical fact, a significant event, an important artifact, or something that happened to you in a museum.

    Your "funky thing" should be...
Learned about, read about, exhibited, or experienced in a Nova Scotia museum.
    Your "funky thing" must be...
Clearly explained, identified, and presented when Garry visits your town on the Funky Museum Roadshow. (please note: if your class is unable to attend a roadshow stop, you can still tell us about your"funky thing" by faxing 755-7045).

You can draw it, paint it, write about it, recite a poem about it, sing a song, put on a play, do a dance...

Use your imagination, come for the fun and learn something funky!
Find out what garry selects as the 25 funkiest things!
Please note: you can join in a funky museum roadshow stop for fun only!
Don't stay away because you didn't select a funky thing - you can discover something funky at your museum during the roadshow stop!
