2009 events at Haliburton and Shand House Museums

Sunday, August 16 – Blueberry Tea
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Shand House Museum.
Cost: $6.00 per person.
Help us celebrate blueberry harvest season in Nova Scotia. Tea and blueberry treats will be served. Door prizes. Please call the Shand House to register, as space is limited.
Saturday, August 29– Mother/Daughter Tea
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Shand House Museum.
Cost: $12.00 per family.
Tea and local summer-time treats will be served. Take part in traditional tea-time activities. Mothers and daughters are encouraged to dress in their finest tea-time attire. Door prizes. Please call the Shand House to register, as space is limited
Sunday, August 30 – My Favourite Cup: A Victorian Tea
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Shand House Museum.
Cost: $6.00 per person. Tea and three courses of treats will be served. Guests are encouraged to dress in their finest tea-time attire and to bring their favourite tea cup. Hear traditional songs in the Shand parlour. Door prizes. Please call the Shand House to register, as space is limited.
Friday, September 25 – Ghosts of Haliburton House
Time: 7 p.m. Cost: $10.00 per person. Enjoy a candle-lit tour of the Haliburton House Museum. Go behind the ropes into the antique-filled rooms of this 19th century home. Enjoy a reading from Haliburton’s famed Sam Slick stories. A light meal will be served. Please call the Haliburton House Museum to register.
Sunday, October 11 – 7th Annual Golden Gourd Scavenger Hunt
Haliburton House Museum.
Time: registration at 9:30, gourd hunt begins promptly at 10:30 a.m., rain or shine. Cost: $3.00 per child. Ages 5-13. Search our grounds for the Golden Gourd! Ornamental gourds for everyone to take home, prizes awarded in 3 age categories.

The following day, some of the older, young ladies take tea at Shand house during an event called, My Favorite Cup. Maritime Noon's own antique expert, Rosemary Beckett hosted and helped identify some of the favorite teacups.

A comforting aroma fills Shand House Museum. We invited Windsor’s children to make a gingerbread house inside Windsor’s favorite gingerbread house.
