2009 Courthouse Concert Series

          All concerts start at 7:30 pm

COURTHOUSE CONCERT SERIES – Concerts will be held Thursday evenings from June 25 to August 20 and on Fridays, August 28 to October 2. The final concert of the season, the Road to Celtic Colours Concert will be held on Thursday, October 8.

Courthouse Concert - featuring the Sherbrooke Trio 7:30pm, tickets $8 at the door.

Monday, June 29-Thursday, July 2

Road To Stanfest Songwriters' Music Camp - Come to the shores of the beautiful St. Mary’s River for a songwriting experience with instructors Dave Carroll, Clary Croft, Susan Crowe and Dave Gunning. You can improve your songwriting abilities, visit our heritage site and take part in our Canada Day Celebrations. There will be sing-a-longs, songwriters’ circles and campfires by the river. Packages are available including accommodations and/or meals. Some Studentswill get to perform their material at the Stan Rogers Folk Festival. Packages available including accommodations and meals. Courthouse Concert - Songwriters' Circle - Featuring instructors Dave Carroll, Clary Croft, Susan Crowe and Dave Gunning and students from the Road to Stanfest Songwriters’ Music Camp, 7:30pm, tickets $8.00 at the door.

Monday, July 6-Thursday, July 9

Sherbrooke Village Fiddle Camp - Featuring instructors Shane Cook, Kimberley and Skip Holmes, Ivan and Vivian Hicks and offering instruction in fiddle all levels, piano, guitar, and banjo. Come to the shores of the beautiful St. Mary’s River for a musical experience. You can improve your fiddle and piano playing abilities, visit our heritage site and enjoy nature walks and village fun at its best. We also plan to do the evening circles in the Courthouse, followed by a campfire and weenie/marshmallow roast by the river if weather permits. All levels welcome. Courthouse Concert - Featuring instructors Shane Cook, Kimberley and Skip Holmes, Ivan and Vivian Hicks and students from our Sherbrooke Fiddle Camp. 7:30pm, tickets $8 at the door.

Thursday, July 16

Courthouse Concert - featuring the Vagabonds, a newly formed Canadian trio who perform a wide variety of acoustic music from old covers to brand new originals. Drawing from the rich Celtic sounds of Cape Breton, the sweet vocal harmonies of gospel and the soulful melodies of the folk era; these multi-instrumentalists create a unique musical experience with intricate harmony and original arrangements 7:30pm, tickets $8 at the door.

Courthouse Concert - featuring Juno nominated, multiple ECMA award winner, John Gracie 7:30pm, tickets $8 at the door.

Courthouse Concert - featuring Former Ordinary Horse, comprised of members Andrew Stalker (guitar,vocals), Dave Tellum (bass, vocals) and Garth Wilson (lead guitar/vocal), Former Ordinary Horse entertains with an eclectic mix of original songs written by Andrew, and cover tunes culled from pop, rock  and  folk music from the past 50 years. Playing together for over one year now, the guys met at the Bauer Theater's much loved Dylan shows, and as they say, the rest is history. 7:30pm, tickets $8 at the door.

Courthouse ConcertHal Bruce – Ever since Hal Bruce witnessed the North American birth of The Beatles in February 1964, his musical influence was molded permanently. Since then, he has studied every song ever recorded by his heroes, from the instrumental parts to their unique vocal styling. His unique Beatles Tribute has netted invitations to various international events. 7:30pm, tickets $8 at the door.

Courthouse Concert - featuring Dan Mason, Dan Mason is recording his new CD with award-winning producer Tim Feswick early this summer. The CD will feature 10 songs all written by Dan that for the most part, will be in the 'new country' style... high energy and melodic country 7:30pm, tickets $8 at the door.

St. Mary's Chowderfest & Sherbrooke Shindig - Enjoy a good old fashioned Shindig at the Performance Centre. Free concert!

Friday, August 28

Courthouse Concert - fe aturing “Brothers Blues Bash” with George Brothers & Friends. This will be the Kick-Off concert for our Second Annual Rally That Gives weekend 7:30pm, tickets $8 at the door.

Friday, September 4

Courthouse Concert - featuring Dan McKinnon award-winning singer, guitarist, songwriter and historian Dan McKinnon hails from the Canadian Maritimes, an area rich in the musical and cultural traditions of the North Atlantic. His warm baritone voice, superb guitar arrangements and original compositions have won this native Nova Scotian widespread praise. This will be an earth friendly concert that will really take you back in time. Dan will be unplugged and so will we with kerosene lamps and candles for lighting 7:30pm admission $8 at the door.

Courthouse Concert - Our annual Sherbrooke Shares concert in aid of the St. Mary’s Food Bank featuring featuring Roly & Ellie, Marion Dewar and Dan Mason 7:30pm, admission $8 at the door.

Courthouse Concert - featuring Jackie Benoit and the fine bluegrass band “Second Wind” 7:30pm, tickets $8 at the door.

Courthouse Concert - featuring traditional Irish music with Fran Doyle 7:30pm, tickets $8 at the door.

Thursday, October 8

6th ANNUAL ROAD TO CELTIC COLOURS CEILIDH AT THE COURTHOUSE – Featuring Troy MacGillivray with special guests. Once again the Road to the Isles runs through Sherbrooke. This pre-festival event will allow visitors to get a head start on the music and magic that is Celtic Colours. 7:30 pm admission $12.00 at the door, season passes will be honored.

Old Fashioned Christmas Concert - at the Presbyterian Church featuring Juno nominated, multiple ECMA award winner John Gracie 7:30pm, tickets $12 at the door.
