Wardrobe Department
The Wardrobe Department would like to know the following information before you arrive at Sherbrooke Village for the Hands On History program:
Girls and Ladies Measurements
Waist, Back of neck to floor
Mens Measurements
Waist, Outside leg (waist to floor)
Unfortunately, we cannot supply boys with costumes. We have a few items but they are used only for emergencies.
We ask the parents to look at second hand clothing stores for a button shirt and plain pants.
Preparing Boys Clothes
Remove the collar but leave the neckband attached.
Colours should be white, gray, blue, beige or something subdued (not wild colours).
Buttons should be left on the cuffs.
Cut pants off just below mid-calf.
Leave the bottom loose or make the pants into knickers by adding an elastic or drawstring in the hem of the pants.
Pants should be a dark colour, e.g.: gray.
Buttons should be sewn on the outside band of the pants for the suspenders, with two above each pocket in the front and two in the centre of the band in the back.
Please do not wear blue jeans or sweat pants.
Other Items to Bring
- Black or navy stockings, knee socks or tights (dresses are worn mid-calf, pants are "knicker" length)
- Pair of dark brown or black lace up shoes or boots for boys, girls and adults.
Please do not make this an expense.
If needed, share with other students who will not be in costume. No sneakers or joggers please.
- Boys should try to have button-on suspenders
- If possible during spring and autumn seasons, please bring a dark sweater for warmth
- Box lunch for first day
- Umbrellas and/or rain gear for inclement days
