Explore the oldest house in Sydney and
discover British colonial family life of the1700s. Built in the new
community of Sydney, Cape Breton in 1787, this house was home to the
community's first permanent Anglican minister, Ranna Cossit, and his
family.
Cossit House is particularly important for visitors interested in early
New England colonial architecture, period furnishings, colonial lifestyles,
cultural and social history, historic Nova Scotian houses, Loyalist
heritage, significant Nova Scotians and early Nova Scotia political
and religious history.
