Halifax, Nova Scotia - Halifax Dartmouth |
Discover the natural wonders of Nova Scotia. Get nose to nose with a real Pilot Whale skeleton or a fantastic Sei Whale model in the marine gallery. Check out the fossil evidence for North America's oldest dinosaurs - 100 million years older than Tyrannosaurus rex! Visit our in-house bee colony and tide tanks filled with wonderful starfish, sea urchins, crabs and more. Don’t miss the spectacular display of quillwork by First Nations Mi’kmaw artists.
Live displays at the Nature Centre vary with the season and may include local wild mice, snakes, turtles, frogs, salamanders, fish, spiders, bugs, poison ivy, and carnivorous plants. Children love Gus the Gopher Tortoise, the Museum's unofficial mascot for more than 60 years.
Naturalists are on duty to explain and assist. Throughout the year, enjoy illustrated talks, walks and workshops that will help you explore the wonders of Nova Scotia's nature.
