Barrington, Nova Scotia -
Lighthouse Route |
Step into the Old Meeting House, where townspeople have gathered for both business and religious worship since 1765. Located only 10 minutes off Highway 3, this plain building is among the oldest in North America and was constructed by Congregationalist fisherman and farmers from the Cape Cod area of the New England states, known as Planters.
Inside, see period “graffiti” and listen to the resounding acoustics as you read an antique sermon. Outside, on stones in the graveyard, discover stories of some of Barrington’s earliest settlers.
