Ross-Thomson House & Store

Shelburne, Nova Scotia - Lighthouse Route

The only surviving example of a store from the 1700s in Nova Scotia, Ross-Thomson House and Store Museum features an authentically stocked store and chandlery, as well as furnishings typical of the time the Ross brothers lived in the house, c.1800. Upstairs in the Militia Room, discover military artifacts from Shelburne in the early 1800s. Outside, linger near the garden, featuring varieties of plants once grown by Loyalist settlers.

This site will appeal to visitors interested in architecture, Loyalist culture and colonial lifestyle, period furnishings, early Nova Scotia militia, colonial trade and commerce, and period domestic gardening.
