Windsor, Nova Scotia - Evangeline Trail

High on a hill above the Avon River in downtown Windsor, this comfortable family home was built in the 1890s for newlyweds Clifford and Henrie Shand. Climb the tower steps to get a panoramic view of the river. Imagine the large vessels, once docked alongside the wharves, when Windsor was a major shipping and manufacturing town

Featuring gingerbread exterior trim and shingles, the Shand House interior showcases modern amenities for Victorian times, including running water, indoor plumbing, and central heating, as well as gleaming cherry-wood paneling, and original furnishings from the Windsor Furniture Factory. Explore this elegant Queen Anne-style house, and marvel at trophies won by champion bicycle-racer Cliffor Shand on his penny-farthing bike!
